Mobile Apps for Lawyers and Legal Researchers: Apps for Legal Research

Mobile Apps for Legal Research

A word of caution: while many mobile apps are incredibly helpful, they should not be used as replacements for official sources of law. Please rely on the official sources available at the Franklin County Law Library, in your employer's law library, or on certified governmental websites when referencing sources of law.

Application Description of Application and Cost

Black's Law Dictionary, 10th Edition, edited by Bryan A. Garner, is one of the definitive legal reference resources for lawyers, law students, and laypersons. The mobile application is available for purchase from the iTunes App Store for $54.99, and the application may be used on both the iPhone and the iPad.
DoNotPay is a "robot lawyer" who will help you fight traffic tickets, sue people, and more. It is available on the iTunes App Store
Fastcase is a low-cost legal research service that provides access to US cases and statutes. The app now syncs with the desktop verson, so that favorites and search history are available on both versions. Many attorneys have access to Fastcase through their local bar association. The app is available from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
