Transfer on Death (TOD) designations are a way of specifying who will inherit your property when you die, without having to go through probate. TOD's can be used for transferring real estate, bank accounts, stock and securities and vehicles. TODs differ from Joint Survivor Deeds and Accounts because the beneficiary of the TOD has no current interest in the property.
If you have a more complex estate, you will still need to consult an attorney for more thorough estate planning.
