The Tenth District Court of Appeals in Columbus, has stated that this section of the CARES Act is still in effect, and says that 30 days notice must be given to evict someone from subsidized housing, or if the rental property is subject to a federally backed mortgage.

30 days notice must be given in 10th District Court of Appeals territory before evicting a tenant from subsidized or federal mortgage backed property.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act provides: “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability … shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Applies in employment and housing contexts. There can be no discrimination in housing provided for the elderly and for disabiliites. Also, no discriminiation in subsidized housing. Also applies to mass transit.

Federal grants to the states for the independent living program for individuals with disabilities.

Designated housing for elderly and disabled families.

Low-income housing assistance. Section 8 rental vouchers.

The Fair Housing Act (FHA) is Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968.1 Before 1988 it prohibited housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. In 1988 the FHA was amended to add handicap and familial status as protected classifications.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is the nation’s largest rental assistance program. Since 1995, the public housing consultants at CGI have worked with the affordable housing industry to improve and streamline operations in support of locally administered HCV programs.
