Child Adoption Law in Ohio: Indian Child Welfare Act

In any adoptive placement of a Native American child, a preference shall be given to a placement with Native American adoptive parents. When a birth parent indicates that they have Native American ancestry, you must notify the tribe and obtain consents under the Indian Child Welfare Act.
