Transportation for students attending sectarian schools does not violate the Ohio constitutional provision prohibiting religious control over state school funds.

A Chartered Nonpublic school is a private school that holds a valid charter issued by the state board of education and maintains compliance with the Operating Standards for Ohio's Schools.

(NCNP) schools are schools that, because of truly held religious beliefs, choose to not be chartered by the State of Ohio. Each NCNP school must certify annually in a report to parents that the school meets the Ohio Operating Standards. A copy of that report must be filed with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) between July 1 and September 30 of each year. Pupils who attend these schools are not eligible for the EdChoice Scholarships.
